Since its commencement, the FAMILY Project organized a series of community-based family-oriented projects by adopting the Community-based Participatory (CBP) model. These projects used the public health approach for project planning, implementation and evaluation on one hand, and gathered the power and wisdom of social welfare organizations, local groups, schools and government departments to benefit the families through the best practice on the other hand.
All the community-based participatory projects received favourable response from the public, which helped strengthen bonds among family members. Each of the projects had its distinctive themes and features. Let’s reminisce about the special “3Hs” moments together!
Effective Parenting Programme: jointly organized with the Caritas Hong Kong. It aimed to enhance positive parenting skills and emotional management skills in parents, so as to increase 3Hs.
Harmony@Home: jointly organized with the Hong Kong Family Welfare Society. It was a preventive family intervention that sought to reduce parent-child conflicts and to enhance parent-child relationships.
Happy Transition to Primary One: jointly organized with the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Welfare Council. It aimed to enhance 3Hs through preparing parents and their children for the transition to Primary One.
H.O.P.E. Project (Hope-oriented Parents Education for Families in Hong Kong): jointly organized with the Hong Kong Christian Service. The project used story-telling to improve children’s resilience and enhance parent-child bonds through teaching hope-oriented communication between parents and children.
Share the Care, Share the Joy Project: jointly organized with the Family Health Service of the Department of Health. It hoped to enhance inter-generational relationships by promoting better communication and conflict management skills in first-time mothers, so as to build a healthy, happy, and harmonious family for the new-born baby.
Boosting Positive Energy Programme: jointly organized with the International Social Service Hong Kong Branch, with the aims to strengthen resilience and to enhance the understanding of Hong Kong public services among new arrivals in Hong Kong.
More Appreciation and Less Criticism Project: jointly organized with the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals. This project aimed to increase appreciation and reduce criticism in 1,000 parents and their school-aged children.
Happy Family Kitchen Project: jointly organized with The Hong Kong Council of Social Service, with the aims of mobilizing families to make good use of dining and cooking time in order to develop positive family communication and strength family members’ inter-relationships.
Learning Families Project: jointly organized with the Christian Family Service Centre and engaged the Estate Management Advisory Committees and Mutual Aid Committees. The project aimed to build a “learning families” culture, allowing residents to learn 3Hs and to build a cohesive community.
Enhancing Family Well-being Project: jointly organized with the Sham Shui Po District Social Welfare Office of Social Welfare Department. This project applied the elements of positive psychology (Gratitude, Open-mindedness and Hope/Resilience) to run district-based programmes, aiming at increasing the sense of well-being and constructing positive family relationships.
3Hs Family Drama Project: jointly organized with The Boys’ & Girls’ Clubs Association of Hong Kong. It aimed to promote positive communication and 3Hs among senior primary school students and their families through drama performances in 100 primary schools.
Amazing Body, Mind and Soul Women’s Health Project: jointly organized with the Hong Kong Island Women’s Association. The project included a pioneering community survey focusing on 3Hs among Hong Kong Island residents. Volunteers attended a workshop that introduced skills in survey techniques and their self-confidence was enhanced by joining the survey.
