FAMILY Geographic Information System (GIS) Beta Version has been recently launched by the FAMILY Project. Through the GIS we hope the public can gain a better understanding of Hong Kong people’s health, happiness and harmony.
During Phase I of FAMILY Project, we have conducted a territory-wide Household Survey that included two household interviews and five telephone follow-up surveys. This study has interviewed over 40,000 Hong Kong residents in about 20,000 families in all 18 districts during Wave 1 (baseline). In Wave 2 (24 months after Wave 1), we have successfully followed and interviewed about 70% of the participants from Wave 1. This follow-up rate is quite satisfactory and is comparable to those in major international cohort studies. This social barometer databank represents the first comprehensive assessment of Hong Kong people’s health, happiness and harmony (the “3Hs”) at both the individual and family levels.
The newly launched FAMILY Geographic Information System (GIS) Beta Version enables more people to know about the data collected from the Household Survey (cohort studies). The system is a web-based interactive inquiry platform, which provides a graphical presentation of the findings in both Waves 1 and 2. From our easy-to-do user interface, anyone who is interested in the well-being of Hong Kong public will be able to see the regional situations regarding various 3Hs indicators. To facilitate usage of the system, a tutorial video is also available.
Apart from that, the FAMILY Project Cohort Study: Baseline Findings has also been published. The findings of this report are based on data collected from the baseline survey during 2009 to 2011, including over 7,984 randomly selected households comprising 16,195 participants who form a representative sample of the Hong Kong general population. Don’t miss them out!
